So what air compressors and corn have in common? This looks like a trick question, and it may be. I want to be precise application, what is the Campbell Hausfeld air compressors have in common with a corn planter? Well, it all comes to history and how a society changes over the decades.

When Alexander Campbell started his business in 1836, for obvious reasons, he did not think of air compressors. He made cars, and when his brothers, William and James, joined him a year later in a blacksmith shop, they have expanded in cars, plows, harrows and cultivators. They were in Harrison, Ohio, agricultural country, so they concentrated on agricultural equipment. But they are not just confined to what was already there, they were innovative. They saw a need for a performance of maize to the corn planting easier and faster. They worked on their design for 22 years before a patent has been assigned to the corn planter Campbell in 1859. Despite the patent, the machine still had problems, and despondency, Alexander sold his share of the business to William and James.

It was four years later when the two brothers solved the problems of design and began production of their first years of commercial maize. Soon after, James became the sole owner of the company, calling it the James Campbell Manufacturing Company. The drilling of maize origin has been adapted for planting small seeds from cotton and fertilizer.

Let's fast forward through time. James son three now own the business, and society has evolved. They have expanded their production to make crucible furnaces for the Ohio Pattern Works and Foundry Company, owned by Joseph Hausfeld. The association has been so successful that Hausfeld moved his operation from Cincinnati to Harrison in 1918 and in 1920 the two companies merged to become the Company Campbell Hausfeld, by which he is still known today.

The company has diversified its metal castings, and later extended to spray for farmers and businesses. But in 1940 a new era for the company began when they entered the air compressor business by purchasing all models, tools, dies and accessories for the manufacture of high-pressure compressor King Air.

More than 90 years, the company has evolved from wagons, corn planters, gates crucible for air compressors. The company continued to add new products, in particular a large number of tools and sprayers can be used with air compressors.

Today, Campbell Hausfeld air compressors fall into many categories. They are commercial contractor and residential air compressors, and oil-less compressors.

The largest category is residential air compressor Campbell Hausfeld. These range in price and lot size, so anyone can find one that works best for their needs. The smaller compressor that I could find was 2 gallons, and the largest had a capacity of 60 gallons, and of course there was everything in between.
