Trellis Planter

Trellis PlanterI am looking for a climbing red flower to plant in a pot with a rectangular lattice.?

Cardinal climber is very attractive, red flowering Viner. Hummingbirds love it and is quick to develop. Is an annual, but you can find seeds at Walmart or a garden center

Or you can try another vine to the year:
Scarlet O'Hara Morning Glory - large red flowers and hummingbirds love it again. At rapid growth.

A tender perennial vine is Red Passion Flower. We grew up in the greenhouse, where I worked.

Hope this helps!

If you are looking for a permanent planting, Clematis would be an excellent choice. There are several good reds. The problem of clematis is that they only flower once per season, late spring / early summer. There are also really nice honeysuckle red if you love hummingbirds and butterflies. Honeysuckle can become quite heavy, but if you are unsure of your trellis overweight may not be. You can cover your trellis with red flowers this season if you have used annual vines such as grapes Cypress (beautiful feathery foliage) or Cardinal Climber. Good luck.

Clematis comes in several colors, but not red.

I think what you are looking for is called trumpet vine. You can grow them from seed, so if you want to do this, you may want to boogie on over to the store and pick them up before it's too late in the year.

Oops, I guess I was wrong about Clematis does not come in red. I do not know what they are called, though.
