Standing Outdoor Fountains

Hello. I have a small outdoor fountain. I'm not home for most of the time, so I do not want this to work permanently. Where I live in Louisiana, we have a lot of mosquitoes, and I fear that the standing water to attract them. Do anyone know how I can keep mosquitoes without harming birds? Someone told me to use a small amount of bleach, but I am worried about birds. Thank you for any help!

There is a product called Mosquito Dunks. Safe for everything and gets rid of all mosquitoes. You can get it at your nursery or perhaps even a superstore.

Any standing water for more than four days can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Let the water run continuously will certainly discourage mosquitoes from laying their eggs on the water as they like calm, still water. Or you can export it everyday couple when it does not work. There are also mosquito dunks that you can put in the fountain .. I want to read the package label to see if they are safe for other wildlife. I think they are because they work with bacteria that is very specific to mosquito larvae and not harm other species of animals.

Try stirring the water. Mosquitoes tend to grow in standing water. try adding a water fountain or fall. Other ideas to buy fish that eat mosquito plants and keep aquatic herbs.

Most counties have a vector control to kill mosquitoes. They give guppies that eat mosquito larvae. Give them a call.

Goldfish - Honestly. We put a couple goldfish in our water the horses. They eat the larvae before they become mosquitoes.

put a little rustic ornamental fish such as gold, guppies, etc.

Get a couple of frogs.
