Stained glass Used in cathedrals to show glorious scenes of saints, and for animals and plants in places other windows are beautiful works of art. Though complex looking, these windows are actually fairly simple, and with a little effort anyone can recreate the art.
The main concern when creating panels of colored glass is of course security. The art you are creating includes exposed edges of the glass, a soldering iron, chemicals, and power tools. If you keep in mind safety and maintain a well organized workspace your hobby will be perfectly safe. Like most professions, you will acquire tools and equipment before starting. You will need glass cutters to score the glass to break. As with most of the cutting tools of the highest quality are more expensive to buy but can make the difference between success and accidental breakage. Another tool specific glass, you'll need is a pair of pliers cutters groza combination. A glass grinder will be necessary to make adjustments to the edges of glass after the break. Mastering this tool can help out your pieces fit together, which increases the quality of your appearance. More equipment and tools will be introduced to you as we begin to build a stained glass panel.
To begin enter the glass sheet you will work on one hand on the top edge and the other holding the bottom of the sheet vertically. Never carry a sheet of glass in a horizontal position to prevent cracking and breakage! To place the glass on the work plan in place while vertical center of the sheet against the side panel. Then roll the glass on the table and slide completely over the surface of the bench.
For your first project choose a model novice with a simple design with relatively short lines to score. You'll need two copies of your template to trace the pattern to be reproduced on a standard sheet of paper and patterned paper with a heavy sheet of carbon. Assign numbers to each piece as a way to keep track of your songs to create and build the project. Then use the special glass pattern shears to cut your pattern onto heavy paper.
Select a piece of your pattern and trace the shape of your glass using a glass-marking pen. Remember to mark on the glass the number assigned to this piece of structure. Then you mark the lines you traced on the glass. firm apply constant pressure with your glass cutting tool and make a smooth cut along your line. After you mark the line you'll need to break the score. Some artisans choose to do this step by hand, while others use pliers cutters Groze employment. Anyway Quick apply pressure, even making the break to keep it as clean as possible. Continue to score, score and break up that all parts of your project are established.
Beginning in a corner of your project, next to compare the glass piece you cut this piece in the model uncut. Mark any glass that crosses lines of model and then use a grinder to remove the excess glass. Continue to do this for each piece until all pieces are the same as the model place them in the assembly jig for the project.
For the foil wrapping step, you must make sure your hands and glass are conducive to the bands sticks properly. Apply the strip of aluminum foil on the edge of the glass with exactly the length of the projection of each side and work your way around the rim of the glass completely. Overlap the tape at the end about ¼ ", then fold the foil at the edges of the glass. Complete this step by burnishing the smooth sheet and then place the piece of glass back in the template.
The last stage of your project will be stained glass panel to weld all the joints together. Slowly move the soldering iron on the seams of the lining of the sheet in the weld. Once the initial side is the full deployment of the entire project.
