Spray Primer

To start or not is a prime topic that confuses most novice arts and crafts lovers. Many often make the mistake of jumping the initiation step, proceed to paint on a bare surface. Unfortunately, this can lead to much grief as the project draws to a close. It can even cause problems during the life of the painted subject.

Do not make the mistake of jumping the initiation step. Primer is an indispensable asset when the timber of paint, metal and plastic objects in particular. It is chemically designed to act as a bridgehead "on the surface of the object to be painted, painting, helping to join while maintaining smooth and durable. So what is primer, exactly?

Primer is a kind of paint that is mixed with chemicals to bind to the material in question. It is designed as an undercoat, which means it is not required to provide durability and shine like normal paint. It is sold in both liquid and aerosol forms. Because it is an undercoat, the primer is designed to aggressively adhere to its material object, forming an intermediary between its surface and the layers of paint to use on top of it. In some cases, as with many types of plastics, primer also help slow the growth of mold in the years pass. Priming helps to prevent moisture damage and mold on wood plasterboard and other porous surfaces.

Priming wood

Priming metal

Only certain metals such as aluminum, require priming as a means of protection against rust. Bleeding in many cases also prevent peeling paint metal later. The experts recommend initiation of metal especially when working with aircraft or parts that are exposed to atmospheric conditions.

Color Primer

spray primer is usually sold in white and gray colors. Gray will initiate the colors applied on top a shade slightly darker than white primer.

Application PRIMER

Primer, whether liquid or aerosol must be applied much like traditional painting. Painters should apply the primer to the outside, using all safety precautions on the breath, in an area with low humidity. Spray primers generally dry in thirty minutes or less. More than one coat may be necessary, the application until the object is completely and uniformly painted with a uniform layer.
