Rust Arrestor

Rust ArrestorBody-flame Mercruiser?

I need to replace the flame arrestor on my A1 Mercruiser 4.3 (1990). I considered replacing it with a K & N, I read good things about, but he was not sure if it would be preferable to replace the OEM part. Has anyone used the K & N flame arrestors on their boats, if so, how it is and was there something else you needed to purchase to fit properly (necklaces, etc.) In addition , and is probably a stupid question, but I can t find the answer anywhere, what is the bolt that attaches the flame arrestor to the carbohydrate called? I need to replace both it is extremely rusty and top nut merged with the screw, but I have no idea what he has called and can not find referenced anywhere where.

Thank you.

I'm not sure that K & N make a flame arrestor that match your Carb. I have it on my EFI 5.7L engine (s), but I've never seen a 4.3. Maybe some do to costs. The "plot" is what he called a part no. 805,295 meaning that buys Mercruiser. But you can order online from: http://www.marinepartsexpress.com/merc_s ...
the pin is threaded differently on each end. It is 0.250 to 28 on the end of CARB and 0.250 to 20 on the upper end of nut and the nut is made for the sparks.

I hope this helps.

I'm sure they work perfectly for your 4.3L engine. I've installed it on my twin diesels on my motor yacht. I doubt you will see an improvement in overall performance, but you will not have to worry about cleaning or replacing for years. At a cost of $ 100, it is not cheap for no real gain on the stock flame arrestor. You can go to any dealer for replacement MerCruiser tightening the bolt / nut. If you get a manual Clymer MerCruiser sale, you'll see there.

Why do you need to replace a lens flare?
full metal body, unless its crushed, washed brake cleaner, then rinse with warm water, let dry before reinstalling.

if its rusted badly, the boat has not been supported. I wouldnt put a cent in it, I'd run away.

nut on top is probably just a nut nylon-cons. but if it goes on the screw that is bad, thats a special part.

air filter, K & N even deprive you of the power compared to a flame arrestor own. they are made to protect from dust, isn't a lot of dust on the water .....
