Rust Arrestor Body-flame Mercruiser? I need to replace the flame arrestor on my A1 Mercruiser 4.3 (1990). I considered replacing it with a K & N, I read good things about, but he was not sure if it would be preferable to replace the OEM part. Has anyone used the K & N flame arrestors on their boats, if so, how it is and was there something else you needed to purchase to fit properly (necklaces, etc.) In addition , and is probably a stupid question, but I can t find the answer anywhere, what is the bolt that attaches the flame arrestor to the carbohydrate called? I need to replace both it is extremely rusty and top nut merged with the screw, but I have no idea what he has called and can not find referenced anywhere where. I'm not sure that K & N make a flame arrestor that match your Carb. I have it on my EFI 5.7L engine (s), but I've never seen a 4.3. Maybe some do to costs. The "plot" is what he called a part no. 805,295 meaning that buys Mercruiser. But you can order online from: http://www.marinepartsexpress.com/merc_s ... I'm sure they work perfectly for your 4.3L engine. I've installed it on my twin diesels on my motor yacht. I doubt you will see an improvement in overall performance, but you will not have to worry about cleaning or replacing for years. At a cost of $ 100, it is not cheap for no real gain on the stock flame arrestor. You can go to any dealer for replacement MerCruiser tightening the bolt / nut. If you get a manual Clymer MerCruiser sale, you'll see there. Why do you need to replace a lens flare? Posted on May 8, 2010.
