You are given a wonderful palette to express your ideas and style. When you choose your pots and planters, think in terms of your own decorating style using colors, textures, plants and containers. A good way to get an idea of what your style, just look around your own home and not be afraid to experiment. It is very easy to change your garden container if you do not seem happy with it. Change the layout or replace a plant or two and try something else. You can always start over completely. It's a good idea to keep notes or a diary garden for what works and what has been a disappointment, then try something new next year. The nursery has generally they introduce new plants each year - it's fun to include some of them too. Container gardens offer an excellent opportunity to learn about color and develop your own sense of design. Try new combinations of greenery, flowers and shrubs to see what works best. An idea that one of my friends tried to cluster several large containers. In this group, it included ornamental grasses, hibiscus, licorice plant, verbena and Scaevola (fan flower).
