Removing Wall Paper

Removing Wall PaperWhat is the best method for removing wallpaper to paint the walls?

I tried the vinegar in the guest bathroom. It seems to work a little. However, it seems that the sticky side of the wallpaper (white) remained attached to the wall while the decorative skins immediately.

Do I just paint on the sticky side hole with paint (or possibly with a white primer first), or should I try to remove the white, sticky side of the wallpaper as well and with what?

Any suggestions?

Try DIF. You can buy the hardware. I prefer to concentrate bottle DIF. Mix it with water and put it in a paint roller pan. Then take a brush and brush roll on wallpaper to saturate. Let it sit for about 5 minutes (making sure it is saturated) and removed with a scraper. For difficult wallpaper, they also sell devices that scour the wallpaper with tiny holes. This allows the chemical infiltration until the glue.

A heat gun!

hot water and a sponge. adhesive should come immediately with the wallpaper

Mix a solution of fabric softener and hot water half and half and made into a spray bottle. Spray the walls and start to peel. You can soak a rag and rub the walls and carpeted, but the bottle of spray is less messy. My wallpaper is 20 years and came out like a charm. Just clean the wall after TSP (TSP is just the product name. I suppose it is only available in Canada. Is a heavy duty all purpose cleaner in granular form. It removes the wax, grease residue wallpaper, clean concrete etc. I do not know what the equivalent would be that you could buy in the U.S..) to remove the glue residue.

There is a device sold at paint store or paint just as in departments WalMart ...... it's called a Paper Tiger Tiger .. or simply. This is a rolling device with small points. When he crosses your screen it puts small holes in. Then, follow with a generous application of wallpaper stripper, DIF. It's a good idea, then immediately put plastic sheeting on the screen wet and let stand overnight. In this way, the wallpaper stripper can penetrate completely (if you put enough holes in the paper tiger) and the plastic kept the humidity solution.

The next day, the paper should come off easily. If it does not add more solvent wallpaper, be patient. You may use a wide putty knife to help remove the paper, but if you're scraping, use more cleaner. The last bet is a steamboat. You can rent this and you hold the plate "on the screen for a few moments, then test to see if the paper let go. It's a hot, dirty work. The better mover.

Then you must wash the wall very, very well. The wall must not envy any oats, still on the wall. That old paste or flux. If you paint or paste on the solvent, the paint will be bumpy and probably does not stick. Thus, you may find yourself washing several times until the wall feels clean.

Try a sequence and see what works:

Hot water and soap
Add vinegar, if it does not work.

Then trisodium phosphate (TSP, available in any hardware store)

If it is really stubborn old stuff, you may have to rent or to buy one of these wallpaper removing power, who get almost nothing.

It's always a guessing game based on the age of the glue (or paste) is, what type and how long it was up there.

Most professional people who do that use steam to remove electric type, because it works best of all.

Rental Sreamer for wallpaper it falls on the walls and then just wash it and come off the wall

I paint to live and they took a lot of wallpaper. I do not really work because you need to remove the glue layer and the upper wall paper and it is not always easy. I use a steamer you can st
