Natural Stone Fountains

We have an outdoor pool with a fountain, it is the cornerstone, is it OK to paint / stain / varnish of the stone? They said black tea and spray it seems as old and helpless is the aspect that we want to achieve ..... ideas??

Yes, you can paint a stone, but it will make sense? Natural stone has always shown its value and elegant. I would try restoring the stones instead of paint.
