How to hang a heavy mirror keyhole fixed rear? I bought a large mirror, Bombay Company a couple of years and I am just now going to hang it. It is near or over 100 lbs. I bought a kit of 100 lbs hanging from Home Depot, but the problem is that the back of the mirror these keyholes set for the hanging and the frame is made of a hard resin so if we can not drill holes to anchor the D / clips. I am reluctant to just hang it on two screws, even screws anchored in wall studs. Any suggestions on how to block this? All company stores closed in the U.S. so I can not ask them.
It is the mirror in question: http
100 Lbs!?
Are you sure? It would be a huge mirror. I hung dozens of 3x6 mirrors at a dance studio with less than a quarter of that weight.
If the mirror is indeed 100 pounds, I would not do it yourself. Even if you have a little help. Two great men would have difficulty as a result.
The resin is hard plastic. It is either acrylic or nylon if it is the weight of support (I work in research and plastics). The holes in the back of the frame should take this problem, no, believe me.
Find the wall studs and screw bolts big delay in them directly. 5 / 16 x 3 1 / 2 bolts should be good enough. I guess you bought the kit comes with the phone? If the wire is designed for 100 lbs, you should be all set to hang. I would not hang a heavy mirror that unless you support at the poles. Do not worry, the amounts will hold, if you go far enough in the bolts.
I have the same problem with my mirror and I do not understand this response. You say to use wire but ... The question was a mirror with keyholes for hanging on the back so there would be nothing to attach the wire? Flag
Lag screws are a good idea
You can mount a couple of 1x3 boards on the wall, or even 3 "or 4" wide strips 1 / 2 "in cons-plated, length slightly less than the width of your mirror, one near the top and the other near the bottom of the mounting position of the mirror, and saw in each of the amounts generated by the wall boards.
In the top panel you saw a couple of 1 / 4 "or 5 / 16" diameter wood screws flat head (these are very large, such as screws latency, but for your flat head keyhole brackets ) to the distance of your keyhole. You should be able to easily support the weight of a large mirror box like this. The board is to maintain the stalemate of the wall itself as the top unless you want to have some downhill. To prevent the mirror from being overturned, you can anchor it by applying the two-sided adhesive tape for the board down before mounting the mirror.
