Lladro Gifts Collectibles as gifts? My daughter will be one in January, and since it's close to Christmas I had the idea to start the tradition of making it a collector's item each year is for her birthday or Christmas. Something that will increase in value if later, it can either sell them for college or move or make life precious memories. If you want to buy collection that are guaranteed to go to value why not try U.S. Savings Bonds? When your child is old enough to use them they have enjoyed almost double in value and can be cashed in college or a car, etc. I'm not much for the sinking of real dollars in jewelry that will disappear from the mode. It is a much wiser investment. Perhaps instead of an item, you may collect an animal or something like that. not all animals have a special meaning to you? Or butterflies, or crystal ware? When my children were small they used to get old books and they loved them. They also liked to collect films and posters. We used to get the old Polly Pockets of 70/80, but as your daughter is younger, I suggest it is a collection of toys My mom started collecting dolls Madame Alexander for me, they are 8 ", sometimes you can get a 10" or more. They are nice because you can get themes (The Wizard of Oz, Hansel & Gretel, Cinderella, and so on). Even though I left home, I still have and sometimes still get one for Christmas or a birthday. My parents were each of us an ornament each year - which was great, since when you grow up, you're tired of your tree and remember those holidays. I do the same thing for my children. We also have vacation, view all previous pictures of each vacation before. Posted on April 30, 2010.
