Plan your landscape is essential As with any project, to a landscaping work properly, you must have a detailed knowledge of the terrain as it is, and how you want it. Only then can you bring your landscaping ideas to fruition.
Think of your house like a jewel. If the context in which it is not fair, it spoils the effect of the house itself. The setting, in this case, your front and back yards. Most people, of course, will only see your front yard - passers-by or casual visitor. Your garden, however, can be your own inner sanctuary, where you go to retreat and reflect on life, the universe and everything. Therefore, your landscaping may consist of an integrated approach to the front and back yard, or two very different concepts, depending on what you want to accomplish.
It is important to remember that your yard - trees, grass, plants and flowers - are living things - and you can bend to your will in many ways, but if they do not right type of soil and are not properly cared for, they will die.
So before you dig your hands into the rich soil and start planting anything, make sure you have a detailed plan of what you do - and you follow this plan.
Before you decide which flowers, herbs and plants that you intend to use in your landscaping, you must pay attention to the ground where you will put them. Spend a week tracking the sun and shadow and how it plays in every inch of your garden. The amount of light that an area receives will determine what types of flowers or plants you want to place there.
But remember to follow the reaction of soil to the rain, whatever. Are there areas that remain soft for a long period after the rain? Are there areas where water has pooled? Again this is what you do with areas of soil.
What about trees? There are currently trees in your yard, and if so, do you plan to keep them all? After several years of raking leaves in the fall you can consider getting rid of these trees and their replacement by conifers. Evergreens present their own challenges, of course, as its sometimes difficult for grass to grow up among the roots of the tree.
Take soil tests, as well. This is easily done with a kit you can buy in any local garden store, or even large supermarkets. You should check the pH balance of your soil. If it is too alkaline or too acidic, plants do not grow properly, and you need to add fertilizer to help bring the pH balance back to the same.
Make a physical
Get yourself some graph paper, and some tracing paper to put on. Draw a scale drawing of each model yard on a piece of graph paper, blocking all major areas such trees and other features that must remain, and features that will be deleted. Next, use tracing paper to sketch out different ideas for flower beds and ornamental designs. If you want to get fancy, you can also buy software that will allow you to make these plans in three dimensions.
Where to find ideas
If you are tracking the privacy of the earth, you can be on the lookout for ideas that you would like to implement. There are dozens of magazines about landscaping and gardening, and countless books available at your local library or bookstore. House and Garden Channel will be a source of ideas as well.
The right equipment
Depending on the size of your course, you do not want to buy all the equipment you need to do your landscaping, you'll probably need garden rollers and aerators once a year. This equipment can usually be rented from your local garden store.
The crew of law
Depending on what you will be put in your landscape - fountains, ponds, he said.
