Hanging Basket Hooks What should I make a nest in my hanging baskets? I have a very small area with veranda Scaevola in a hanging basket, which a dove is decided in a pleasant place for its nest (I do not think that there are still eggs, but she was sitting on it all afternoon today). I know they are protected by law, and I do not destroy the nest or to flee, but I am concerned because the basket, it becomes quite sun-baked, and I have a heck to keep plants alive in this place, even when I water twice a day (we are in the Midwest). I can not exactly water while it is there, and I read that spraying on eggs can hurt them. Should I let the plants die and enjoy watching the birds on the terrace? Should I try to move the whole basket of different hook on the porch to be more shade? For two years now I have had finches nesting in my hanging baskets. When Mom was gone, I would take the basket down so I can see to keep the water off the eggs or small birds. So I hang back and make sure it was in the same direction as it had been. The babies hatched and grew as they were supposed lossless. My mother had a similar situation last spring. Here's how to keep your plants and birds mom. Water with a small watering can for you to direct water to the soil and roots instead of spraying the flowers. I would not bother to move the cart. The Mama bird might get confused and abandon the nest. She and the baby will be beautiful throughout the spring, the plant and soil moisture from watering will actually do much to keep them cool enough. I imagine they will be by mid-June, so they will not be overcooked. Enjoy watching them. It's pretty cool to see the birds hatch and fly. caught another basket to enjoy the birds that way you do a good thing by giving them refuge Posted on June 22, 2010.
