I was me I can get a inexpernsive spray paint and paint the frame black white or silver. I think that part is just an image that gold would look a bit out of place. If you had more of an accent of gold then it would be more appropriate ... ie a vessel of gold or gilt frame another peak or a pillow with gold accents.
