The history of decorating Christmas trees
Early Day Christmas decorations were food adorning the trees. Some of these items included small pastries, apples and other sweets. The tradition is to eat these tree decorations after the celebration of Christmas. Items that could not be eaten were eventually added to the mixture. Tradition has it that Martin Luther was the first person to set non-food items by placing candles on the Christmas tree.
While families have immigrated to America, they brought their traditional type of decorating Christmas tree with them. However, added to the mixture of European food products erupted, cranberries colorful and festive decorations. Finally, in addition to elements that have helped to cut the trees, were ornaments of glass were made and popularized in Germany and subsequently exported to other countries.
With the discovery of electricity in the last part of the 19th century, it was a natural progression that electric lighting would be part of the decoration of Christmas trees.
Decorations for Christmas trees today
Christmas decorations of today have changed. Ornaments are beautifully decorated and highlighted with colors glow. Often, the decorations are not edible, but can sometimes reflect the original use and the idea of cutting the tree with fruit and candy. For example, candy canes can hang from the branch of a tree. However, these candy canes are not real, but simply an artificial representation that is described with lights. These artificial candy canes add to the mixture for decoration.
The lights, as part of the decoration now sparkle and give the impression of moving or running around the tree.
Despite the fact that the sets of today have changed in style and materials used, the fact remains that simple. The fact is that Christmas tree decorations are always part of Christmas which symbolizes and reflects the familys celebration of their faith.
