Bulk Glass Vases

Bulk Glass VasesThe art of glass produced by Tiffany Studios - An overview

Louis Tiffany Comfot beginning of his career became very interested in the production of sparkling colors, innovative art glass. In the literature published by Tiffany, he said that research in the development of these techniques of glass making began in 1872 in New York. Tiffany had requested assistance from the Italian producer of glass formed in Venice, who hired him. In 1878, Tiffany created the firm of Louis C. Tiffany & Co. specializes in creating interior design developed for rich residential and commercial establishments. One factor that Tiffany incorporated into these projects were the use of iridescent glass tiles. They were used as chimney, decorative screens and wall ornamentation. The tiles were molded and manufactured in different sizes with different decorations. The colors of these tiles included opalescent and translucent green, iridescent blue and gold, and solid colors such as blacks, reds and oranges with swirls of fabulous colors. Subsequently produced Tiffany glass tiles for use in additional lamps and decorative objects. Some of these tiles included scarobs, Turtleback tile, iridescent glass prisms and glass linenfold (which resembled folded sheets).

Between approximately 1892 and 1924 made in blown glass vases and bowls has been produced by the Tiffany Furnaces in Corona Queens. We often speak of three periods of general production of glass. The first period was roughly between the 1892 and 1900 was the period when most experimentation was done in the form (shape), color, and apply special effects and integrated into the glass. The intervening period has been the period where most of the art glass was produced. The period from the end, which extends from 1916 to the end of the company in the late twenties was the time when more commercial and less innovative parts have been produced. Many of the parts produced in the period were made in pastel colors.

Louis Comfort Tiffany was the artistic force and designer for the entire glass. It was reported that Tiffany is doing very rough sketch for a piece of its artisans and then use this concept to create a more complex and detailed rendering of the play, which eventually required Tiffany's approval before production has been launched .

In 1894, Tiffany has recorded his "Favrile glass" for trademarks and for patents. The term he coined in reality does not refer to a color or type of glass, but in different colors and textures of glass that he used in the production of its various products, including windows, lamps and objects decorative.

Most of blown glass vases at the beginning have not been signed. A paper label was applied to identify the production by the Tiffany Glass and Decoration Company. In early stages of the production of many parts have been numbered in the order of 1 to 9999. In about 1894 pieces began to be numbered with a letter prefix, followed by a number. This used letters between A and Y (not Z). For example, in 1894, the prefix A and B have been used! 895 prefix C and D. .. until about 1905 with the prefix W and Y. In this first period of about two letters were used per year. Following this a number followed by a suffix has been used (about one letter per year 11906-1928). Some special notations, including the use of X for experimental, EX for the exhibition (small) Special Order, an AL-made parts for the personal collection of Tiffany's.

Some types of glass that were produced were decorated glass, agate, Cypriots, Lava, clipboard, and glass Aquamarine.

Decorated glass was produced during the periods. The decoration may vary from a few lines on a solid HISTORY King Tut "complex", the decoration, which almost all the surface of the piece was decorated with swirling random lines. Some styles include special decoration with peacock eyes.
