Acura ConceptAcura RL redesigned for 2008

Acura, the Japanese manufacturer of automotive performance Honda Motor Company, will give the RL (its flagship sedan) an extreme makeover for next year.

In 2005, the Acura RL has been shown and described with the world's most advanced all-wheel drive system called Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The system has the ability to torque vector - individually control the distribution of power to the rear wheels. It removes and adds power to the left and right, as necessary to cure understeer and improve handling. Almost in its third year, many competitors in the RL offered all-wheel drive system. They have developed similar technology for their own vehicles.

The SH-AWD is actually the most advanced road car Honda has created. It offers more power, compared to the NSX mid-engined supercar and the collision mitigation technologies. It also comes with a pyrotechnic-loaded cap which pops up to help minimize injuries to pedestrians.

Although impressive and advanced features, the RL does not seem to make the cut. Its sales have barely improved over the years. Japanese Buick said that the new model seems unable to gain the interest of the public even if it has the features and technology that buyers want.

Honda is now in the process of formulating a rescue mission for the RL through a significant transformation. Since the current vehicle is said Bland, the style is a matter of common report. The new car is probably inspired by some wild concept Acura vehicles that have been posted on the North American circuit auto show. The new RL is expected to have a new nose and tail, and a rear legroom and expanded trunk space.

RL has been low in relation to the powertrain. It has been and could be powered by one engine 3.5L V6 with an automatic transmission. There was not even more options for the SH-AWD. Acura would be conscious of the need to offer a choice in order to successfully compete with its competitors in the segment. That may be why it will offer standard two-wheel drive (front or rear wheel drive) and optional all-wheel drive for the new RL. Some have speculated that the new RL will have a six-cylinder engine in the HP 300 and a powerful V8 engine bigger and better Acura Axle Assembly and other elements essential to improving vehicle performance.

As now, Acura is still working on optimizing some places to create a better RL 2008.
